The REFLEX project (2000-2004) was the early warning signs to industry that we are possible dealing with a carcinogenic agent in wireless communication.
In fact, the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) group confirmed this possibility 7 years later.
So instead of two decades of designing safer equipment we have had two decades of obstruction and denial by industry on the back of the ICNIRP guidelines and German government support.
I guess the attitude by Prof, Alexander Lerchl is “I am alright Jack”. Yes, as long as I don’t get a brain cancer or I am not Electrohypersensitive (EHS) this technology is great. It will be “someone else” and “not me” attitude.
Unfortunately, radiation health effects are dependent on a large number of factors and you might be in the high-risk category. We now have two decades of bio-effects research with this technology and it is telling us we have a problem with the ICNIRP approach.
Radiation protection professions in IRPA and ICRP need to stand up and rescue this situation before we are all effected by this indiscriminate rollout of 5G and beyond.
We need to recognize this technology, although useful, is also potentially dangerous technology that is detrimental to long-term animal health and our ecology. We need to invest in building safer wireless products and this cannot be done with governments regulatory bodies that are conflicted.
If this current pandemic has shown us nothing else, health is of vital importance.
BRHP - Between a Rock and a Hard Place 
5G cellphone relay antennae’s are a known source for TBI since they were initially used close to fire stations in San Francisco! Millimeter waves readily penetrate the skin and after the epidemic of TBI in firemen, the 5G relay antennas were relocated away from fire stations! San Jose forbid 5G and other enlightened communities have followed including Washington DC. Martin Blank PhD a BEMS member and Reba Goodman PhD published “ DNA is a fractal antenna in electromagnetic fields,” in 2011 and P Singh PhD and A Bandyopadhyay PhD published DNA as an electromagnetic Fractal Cavity Resonator with EMF at 34 GHz with a positive gain of 1.7 dBi in 2017!
S Singh PhD published that electromagnetic waves induces HSP and its effects on spatial memory, alterations of intracellular calcium concentration, changes in blood brain barrier permeability, enzyme activity, genotoxicity, nonspecific disabilities and subjective symptoms to name a few. Radiation exposure from mobile phones have been linked to tinnitus, brain tumors, and acoustic neuromas in “Health implications of electromagnetic fields , mechanisms of action and research needs,” in 2014!
So what we have seen from 3 to 4G exposure will be magnified with 5G adoption from the major carriers!
Every Cellphone has a fractal antenna!
Personally, I don’t think so. Lerchl’s musings didn’t impact IARC 2011 evaluation. He was too small fish focused on a single set of studies. No, he didn’t affect deliberations in 2011.
Wow! , Thanks Darisuz for making our comment a thread on your blog. I hope you and Kirsti are well and have avoided the Coivid-19 virus. My son Daniel was in New York last March and got sick along with a lot of other people he was living with. In fact his whole apartment block got sick. He was never tested so the number of infections are very underestimated. He is pretty healthy so recovered after about 3 weeks. He is Mexico at present another hot-spot.

Do you think that the outcome of IARC’s review of RF might have been different if the REFLEX study had not been denigrated by Lerchl et al?
Vic and Steve, Yes I agree, this cover up needs to be recognized and the culprits of it brought to task, safe systems need to be rapidly designed and deployed, the immediate problem that needs addressing, is the removal of masts close to and in residential areas, and a moratorium on new ones, because that’s the only refuge for those of us have become EHS, the result of arrogant telco’s and planning departments. Polluting our homes 24/7, if you are being assaulted, how many times do you have to say STOP, before the Law will protect you, if a Woman says “NO” she quite rightly has the law on her side. It should also apply, to assault by radiation.
